A thick lawn is the cheapest weed control there is.
Weeds move into thin turf. Feed the lawn properly and most of the problem stops being a problem. Kastor Services runs seasonal fertilization and weed-control programs for homes and businesses across Rock County.
What's included
- Seasonal fertilizer applications timed to how Wisconsin turf actually grows
- Pre-emergent treatment to stop crabgrass before it germinates
- Broadleaf weed control for dandelion, clover, plantain and creeping charlie
- Spot treatment on problem areas rather than blanket spraying everything
- Rate and timing adjusted for your turf and the season, not a fixed calendar
- A note after each visit on what was applied and what we saw
How it works
We look at the lawn
What's growing, what's thin, what weeds are present and how much sun the lawn gets all change the program.
You get a written plan
Number of visits, roughly when they happen, what goes down and what it costs for the season.
We apply through the season
Applications happen on schedule and you know what went down. Results build over a season, not overnight.
What actually changes a lawn
Most struggling lawns in Rock County are struggling for one of three reasons.
It's underfed
Thin turf lets light reach the soil, which is exactly what weed seed needs. Density is the defence.
The timing was wrong
Pre-emergent after germination does nothing. Half of this work is applying the right thing in the right window.
The soil is compacted
If water and nutrients can't get down, feeding alone won't fix it. Sometimes the honest answer is aeration first.

Common questions
How many applications does a lawn need?
It depends on the lawn and what you want out of it. We'll recommend a number after seeing it rather than selling you a fixed package that may be more than you need.
Is it safe for kids and pets?
We follow the label on every product, including re-entry intervals, and we'll tell you how long to stay off the lawn after each visit. If you have specific concerns, raise them at the quote and we'll work around them.
How fast will I see a difference?
Broadleaf weeds usually show a response within a couple of weeks. Turf density is a season-long change — it gets noticeably better by the second year of a program.
Do I still need to mow and water normally?
Yes, and it matters. Mowing high and watering deeply do as much for turf density as anything we apply.
Can you combine this with mowing?
Yes. Most customers who do both find it simpler to have one contractor on the property. We'll quote them together.
Give the lawn something to work with.
Tell us about the property and we'll get you a free, no-obligation estimate for the season.
