Common questions
When is the best time to trim?
It depends on the plant. Flowering shrubs are usually best trimmed after they bloom; most evergreens and hedges take a trim through the growing season. We'll tell you if waiting a few weeks would give a better result.
How often do shrubs need trimming?
Most properties do well with one or two trims a year. Fast-growing hedges and anything close to a walkway or window often want two.
My shrubs are badly overgrown. Can they be saved?
Usually, yes — though a plant that's gone years without a cut sometimes needs to be brought back over two seasons rather than all at once. We'll be straight with you about what a single cut can and can't fix.
Do you haul the clippings?
Yes. Removal and disposal are included. We rake out the beds before we leave.
Can you remove a shrub instead?
Yes. Sometimes the honest answer is that a plant is in the wrong place or past saving. We can remove it and, if you want, talk about what would work better there.
